Course Description

This course will prepare the student to provide comfort-oriented massage to clients with cancer or for those who are in the different stages of cancer; terminal, treatment, recovery and survivor. The course will dispel the myth of cancer as a contraindication to massage. Students will learn pressure restrictions, site restrictions and position restrictions when giving a massage and will provide the student with an overview in modalities other than touch massage. It will provide the student with a background in the psychology, physiology and pathology of the cancer process and how to work with the side effects and emotions as a result of treatment.
