Description of Services

CSHA students participating in the student massage clinic have completed all but the last quarter of their studies. This is still a learning process and constructive feedback throughout the massage is appreciated. A few minutes of your time will be required to fill out a student evaluation form after your session.

Types of Massage Offered

Swedish: Swedish or traditional massage is a combination of various movements and strokes on the body. Swedish strokes vary in depth and rhythm according to the results sought, including stimulation, relaxation and rehabilitation. They also take into account such factors as age, health status, strength and certain conditions. It is popular in health spas and sports clubs. Persons suffering from stress, decreased circulation and muscle fatigue often find relief from this modality.

Therapeutic: Therapeutic massage includes deep tissue, neuromuscular, and various hydrotherapy techniques. It intervenes in the cycle developed by trauma and/or injury, soft tissue dysfunction and lack of movement often accompanied by pain. Therapeutic massage is often used in chiropractic offices and medical massage clinics.

Integrated: This approach uses a variety of the above methods. The student will also blend the styles he or she knows and then design the massage for the individual client. CSHA offers many different massage modalities in the student’s training. The student may incorporate one or more of these methods into the client’s individual massage session.

Spa Treatments

Lymphatic Drainage: The lymphatic system is a specialized component of the circulatory system, responsible for waste disposal and immune response. These gentle and deeply relaxing treatments are beneficial for clients who are challenged with water retention and edema, sinus congestion, cellulite, a sluggish immune system, and much more! Treatments will focus primarily on the face, neck, upper torso and legs. Combined with a light Swedish massage, these treatments are the prefect answer for a “Type A” lifestyle. Lymphatic drainage is used in most resort spas and salons, medical spas and specialized wellness clinics.

Body Scrub: Spa clinic students will offer a variety of exfoliating treatments designed to stimulate circulation, remove cellular debris, remineralize and nourish the skin and increase vitality. These treatments include a complimentary dry brushing of the body to stimulate the lymphatic flow and prepare the skin to receive the optimal benefits of the treatment. Your skin will glow! Body scrubs are used in most resort spas and salons.

Hot Stone: Warm, smooth, basalt stones are employed by the student to warm and relax the tissues. The warmth of the stones melts away tension and allows for the benefits of a deeper massage without the discomfort. Stones will also be placed on the body to facilitate a soothing spot treatment. Aromatherapy oils are used to compliment the treatment for one of the most relaxing massage experiences ever! Hot stone treatments are used in resort spas and salons and specialized wellness clinics.
