Cranial Sacral Program FAQs
What is Cranial Sacral Therapy? Cranial Sacral Therapy involves subtle manipulation of the fascia surrounding the cranial bones, spine, and pelvis in order to balance and calm the nervous system. This gentle modality has the potential to reduce anxiety, chronic pain, migraines, TMJ, the effects of whiplash, and many other complaints. Cranial Sacral Therapy is based on the idea that the body has an innate ability to self-heal and self-correct.
What courses are offered in the program? The program includes Cranial Sacral Level 1 and Cranial Sacral Level 2, each comprising 50 clock hours. The level 1 class will provide students with a thorough understanding of the Cranial Sacral system, the holds and techniques to release restrictions in the system, and a full protocol for working with clients. Level 2 expands on that knowledge with techniques for addressing more complex restrictions, working with somatic trauma, exploring fascial release work, and a full TMJ routine.
Who can benefit from Cranial Sacral Therapy? People suffering from anxiety, migraines, TMJ, whiplash, and those seeking to improve their overall emotional and physical health would benefit from Cranial Sacral Therapy. This is also an ideal therapy for those who are looking for a gentle, non-invasive approach to working with the body.
What skills will students develop? Students will develop palpatory sensitivity and understand the activities of cranial bones and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Students will learn impeccable hand placement for holds, and develop their presence and intentionality in this work. Students practice holds and routines both in class and in out of class labs.
