Student Massage Clinic

Student Clinic Services

The Colorado School of Healing Arts student massage clinic provides student massage to the Denver area community. The CSHA massage clinic has individual private treatment rooms and a curtained room, equipped with comfortable massage tables in an inviting and relaxing environment that promotes health and wellness.

The purpose of the massage clinic is to give our students hands-on experience in working with the public and to offer quality bodywork to the community. CSHA students participating in the student massage clinic have completed all but the last term of their studies. The student clinic is a class; this is still a learning process and constructive feedback throughout the massage is appreciated. A few minutes of your time will be required to fill out a student evaluation form after your session.

Please be gentle and respectful with all feedback and communications with student therapists, clinic instructors, front desk, CSHA staff and fellow clients. We ask that our clinic clients be responsible for the energy they bring into the school which can provide the best clinic experience for everyone.

Note: we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is not being respectful or following Colorado School of Healing Arts requirements.

Swedish

Swedish or relaxation massage is a combination of various movements and strokes on the body. Swedish strokes vary in depth and rhythm according to the results sought, including relaxation and rehabilitation. They also take into account such factors as age, health status, strength and certain conditions. It is popular in health spas and sports clubs. Persons suffering from stress, decreased circulation and muscle fatigue often find relief from this modality.

Therapeutic

Therapeutic massage includes deep tissue, neuromuscular, and sports massage (facilitated stretching) techniques. It intervenes in the cycle developed by trauma and/or injury, soft tissue dysfunction and lack of movement often accompanied by pain. Therapeutic massage is often used in chiropractic offices and medical massage clinics.

Integrated

This approach uses a variety of the above methods. The student will also blend the styles he or she knows and then design the massage for the individual client. CSHA offers many different massage modalities in the student’s training. The student may incorporate one or more of these methods into the client’s individual massage session.

Scheduling

Due to the nature of student scheduling, booking appointments is not on-going; we have a specific day and time every term when we can begin to schedule appointments for you. We have named that day “Call-in Day.” You are welcome to call or come in-person on that day/times to schedule for the next term.  We tend to book all appointments for the term on this day, but please feel free to reach out throughout the term about availability, to schedule appointments, or to be placed on our cancellation list.

Here are some reminders to make the scheduling process easier on you (and us!):

  • We expect and appreciate your patience and understanding during this high call volume time; we are working hard to accommodate a large amount of calls and help every person as quickly as possible.
  • We ask that you keep calling back until one of us answers. DO NOT leave a message; we can’t check them during this time.
  • Please be prepared to be on hold for a bit until someone can get to you. Thank you again for your patience!
  • We do limit the number of appointments you can book during call-in day.
  • If you can’t call us or come in on that specific day/time, please feel free to call the following week.  Appointments usually book completely on call-in day, so we cannot guarantee availability, however some cancellations do tend to occur throughout the quarter. We are happy to put you on our cancellation list.

The student massage clinic schedule will vary every term and are by appointment only.  Because this is a student clinic and every student must have equal opportunity, we cannot accommodate requests for you to schedule with specific therapists.

Fall Session ends on December 10th.

NEXT CALL-IN / SCHEDULING DATE IS: January 10th, 9am-12pm

Please see important information above in “Scheduling.“

WINTER APPOINTMENT DATES/TIMES: January 14th- March 11th

Tuesdays: 11:00am, 12:30pm, 2:00pm, 5:00pm, 6:30pm, 8:00pm

Helpful Information

  • As this is a student clinic and we must provide a fair learning opportunity for all students, we cannot take requests for a client to be scheduled with a particular student.  If you have a particular preference (gender or other) for your therapist, we recommend that you schedule with a professional therapist.
  • The school can no longer offer blankets to place on top of the sheets. Please bring your own clean/laundered blanket if you get cool during the session.
  • It is not guaranteed that clients will receive a confirmation call for your appointment.  We kindly ask for as much notice as possible if you need to cancel your appointment so that we can fill it for the student. Thank you!
  • Please be aware that you must be 18 years or older to receive a massage in any Colorado School of Healing Arts (CSHA) Clinic. We do not have childcare facilities and you may not bring children with you to your appointment.
  • If you are currently taking blood thinners, prescription pain meds, medical marijuana, or are being treated for any of the following: cancer, uncontrolled hypertension, blood clots, complications of diabetes, heart disease, pregnancy complications, recent surgery, recent stroke, post COVID symptoms or any other serious conditions, you will need to bring a physician’s release for massage therapy.  Please check with your Doctor if you have any doubts about receiving Massage Therapy.

Effective 5/10/23, CSHA is transitioning to a “Mask Optional” / “Mask upon request” policy.

  • If it is your preference, please continue to wear your mask.
  • If you request that your student massage therapist wears a mask, they will also wear a mask.
  • Please bring a mask with you in the case that your student therapist or the clinic instructor ask you to wear a mask.
  • If your student therapist, clinic instructor or CSHA staff requests that you wear a mask, you will wear your mask without complaint during the entire time you are in the school/clinic and during the massage when face up or face down.
  • If you present with any Covid/cold/flu/allergy symptoms, however mild, you will be required to wear a mask.
  • If you have had a known exposure or think you may have been exposed, have been travelling or have attended a large public gathering, please wear your mask for the next 5 days while at the school/clinic.
  • All student therapists, clinic instructors and CSHA staff practice meticulous hygiene. Please practice meticulous hygiene-Always!

The success of this transitional policy relies on the honesty, caring and professionalism of all members of the CSHA community.

If we see a rise in Covid/flu/cold outbreaks or, if there is a confirmed transmission at the school, CSHA will re-establish its masking policy for a time to be determined as necessary.
